A heart warming story about some local heros.
Dwayne and Wanda left BC in a 1984 winnebago , with a 10 year dream of traveling Coast to coast and seeing Canada. They had a few troubles along the way but got fixed up and carried on their way. At 3:30 on Friday they pulled in our yard because they were overheating. The news was not good their motor was blown.
We quickly started making calls and looking for a miracle. Mike Arnold put out a post on Carleton County Restorations looking for a motor, everyone watches this site on Frydays! (If you know you know and if you don’t you should start following them on FB) As luck or higher powers would have it a local hero Cal Murray stepped forward and said he had a motor that would work but it had sat for many years. His intention was to someday get it going and head out on his own adventure but he decided someone needed it more. He along with his brother Roger and Mike removed the engine did some tuning and got it going over the long weekend, giving up their valuable time for strangers.
Tuesday morning Cal showed up first thing with the motor and he and 2 of our talented mechanics removed the old motor. No small feat , you don’t just pop the hood, the motor comes out through the dash, and has to be squeezed out the narrow man door. By Wednesday at 4:30 the new motor was in. Thursday morning with some fine tuning and an oil change our new BC friends pulled out in tears and disbelief over the generosity and Carleton county kindness shown to them.
We wish them all the best on the rest of their journey.
And to Cal , our new home town hero, who gave up his motor and worked start to finish to help out total strangers Thank you so very much! There has got to be some good karma coming your way.
